What is Android One? What handsets are available and how Android One Phone is different than other Android phones

Recently, we heard about the  launch of Android one phone in India. Many people must be wondering whether Android One is a new version of Android and likewise.

So answering in simple terms about Android One, it is as follows:
What is Android One and how it is different from existing latest version of Android i.e. Android kitkat 4.4?
Well, Android One is a customized Android Phone as used recently by Asus and other service providers. Normally, high end Android Phones like Nexus, Samsung, Xiaomi etc. customize Android Operating Systems. Most of the economical handsets use Android’s AOSP (Android Open Source Project) version. Whereas there is no ownership on the AOSP version of android operating system, the modified version has ownership of respective companies. Thus, Goggle has ownership on Android One. In Android One, interface, and other important aspects are modified according to the need.

What is the benefit of Android One?
Google is taking control over the entire things. Although, it is providing the customized Android One OS, Google decides the company who can use Android one and it decides the hardware and quality of the product. So, irrespective of which handset (Karbonn, Spice or Micromax) you buy, it ensures that you get similar hardware specifications.  The other Android phone may or may not come with a free upgrade to next version, but Android One comes with the free upgradation to the latest version of Android as and when it will be available.
