URGENT: TWEET TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
Yesterday, police in Mahan seized Greenpeace India's communication equipment days before the new Gram Sabha is to be held. As you might know, a gram sabha is a process where villagers decide if the forests, which belong to them by the Forests Right Act, can be used for mining. The previous gram sabha was forged (with signs of people who had been dead for long!), and a new one is to be held next month.
Seizing the equipment effectively blocks the communication between Mahan and the rest of the world, since the equipment used was a signal enhancer. It is a basic piece of equipment which our team was using to ensure information flow(in terms of text updates and pictures) between Mahan and the rest of the country. Mahan has very low connectivity because of the terrain and far located signal towers.

Activists in Mahan have BEEN ARRESTED now! In our initial calls to the district collector and SP, they say they have no such information!!! Following these arrests, we are focusing our communication on demanding a free and fair gram sabha.
Please create a Twitter storm by sending tweets to significant people who can change the fate of people in Mahan.
