Universities offering distance learning courses in India- Jammu and Kashmir

Hello Friends,

This is my 13th post in the series of distance learning education in India. through each such post, I have been explaining everyone of you the approved universities in India. Through this blogposts, I have been providing information about territorial jurisdiction of every university, all the courses they are offering till the time of posting the blog and whether the university is involved in any controversies, degree scams etc.

Students need to be very careful while choosing the distance learning. If students looking degrees just for the namesake and for private jobs, they may choose any universities without any controversy. If the students are looking for higher education in India and abroad, public sector job, migration to out of India, they must pursue the course within the jurisdiction of the universities.

To repeat again, pursuing distance learning courses from a Central University is the safest mode. Central universities have territorial jurisdiction all over India and I have not found any central university involved in any violation or degree scam.  There are total 42 central universities in India as of today and around 12 universities offer courses in distance learning mode. If a student want to make a safe career, they can opt any of these 12 universities. I will write a separate blog post on the same. In state wise list, you can see these universities. 

Jammu and Kashmir need development, so the education. I must say that this state is honest and I have never seen them having private universities (and anyway private universities in India are meant for sucking people's money for the trash degree (only handful are exception) and in this state they will not get the students who can pay their hefty fee and others may not come to the state for education by paying such price (as most of them want enjoyment). Both Jammu University and Kashmir University are honestly trying to make education accessible to all in the state at cost effective through distance mode. I would definitely pursue at least one course from any of these two university. However, they need to enhance and add more courses to bring employment and growth in the state.

The University of Kashmir established the Directorate of Distance Education in the year 1976 with the view to impart education in different disciplines through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The Directorate of Distance Education has been offering many academic courses/programmes and undertakes a diverse range of activities. The Directorate is housed in a multi-storied building with well-equipped library, excellent student support services, audio-visual lab, conference hall, well furnished classrooms, and a computer lab with latest Information and Communication Technology (lCT) facilities
