Universities offering distance learning courses in India- Himachal Pradesh

Hello Friends,

This is my 12th post in the series of distance learning education in India. through each such post, I have been explaining everyone of you the approved universities in India. Through this blogposts, I have been providing information about territorial jurisdiction of every university, all the courses they are offering till the time of posting the blog and whether the university is involved in any controversies, degree scams etc.

Students need to be very careful while choosing the distance learning. If students looking degrees just for the namesake and for private jobs, they may choose any universities without any controversy. If the students are looking for higher education in India and abroad, public sector job, migration to out of India, they must pursue the course within the jurisdiction of the universities.

To repeat again, pursuing distance learning courses from a Central University is the safest mode. Central universities have territorial jurisdiction all over India and I have not found any central university involved in any violation or degree scam.  There are total 42 central universities in India as of today and around 12 universities offer courses in distance learning mode. If a student want to make a safe career, they can opt any of these 12 universities. I will write a separate blog post on the same. In state wise list, you can see these universities. 

Himachal Pradesh is not so developed in terms of education. Recently IIT has started in Mandi. Further, government has recently allowed private universities in the state which may turn to degree scams. One of current such degree scam university is Manav Bharti. It is another CMJ, MGU, Jodhpur National and such many other universities.

Now let us look at Universities from Himachal Pradesh who are authorised to offer distance learning courses:

Admission open: June to September (with late fee)

Medium of instruction: English and Hindi

NAAC category: B

Reputation:Known university in state

Territory and jurisdiction according to UGC : Entire Himachal Pradesh

Territorial Jurisdiction as per the  University Act: Entire Himachal Pradesh

Information about the university: 

he Himachal Pradesh University was founded on July 22, 1970. It is located at Summer Hill which is at a distance of 5 kms from the main town, Shimla. It has awarded as centre of excellence for Himalayan studies. It is a state government university and I have never seen any controversy about it. 

Exam Centre: Shimla, Mandi, Dharamshala, Hamirpur, Chandigarh and NOIDA, Amritsar, Bilaspur (Please note that this is violation of UGC guideline, as per the university Act, it cannot offer any course outside Himachal Pradesh however it is safe for students from Himachal Pradesh to pursue course from this university)

Reputation: bad reputation 

Territory and jurisdiction according to UGC : Only Laddo village in Himachal Pradesh

Territorial Jurisdiction as per the  University Act: Only Laddo village in Himachal Pradesh

Information about the university: 

It is a private deemed university and cannot offer distance education outside it campus. However this university is surfacing in a kind of degree selling scam in India.

Degree from this university (in distance or full time or any other mode) obtained outside of its main campus at Laddo village in Himachal Pradesh is invalid for higher education as well as for public sector job.
here are almost 15 private universities in the state but except Manav Bharti, I did not see any other private universities degree selling activities. If only agents are doing it and faking it, they should have done it for every university, then why only Manav Bharti's name is surfacing. Beware

I am not going to mention courses offered by this university as it does not make any sense. YOu pay money, this university will print whatever degree you want (as EIILM, CMJ and others did and even it will give you full time degree but please note that all the degrees will be fake and your future will be in dark if you buy such degree even from the university directly).

Type: Private  University

NAAC category: Not accredited

Admission open for non HSC passed: No

Reputation: bad reputation 

Territory and jurisdiction according to UGC : Only its main campus at Dehradun

Territorial Jurisdiction as per the  University Act: Only its main campus at Dehradun

Information about the university: 

This is not a scamster but a degree selling university with no quality.
