I follow Coke studio- both India and Pakistan and like many of my Indian fellow, I too prefer Pakistan Coke Studio is better than us due to several reason. First, they have revived the old poetry and songs, second the quality of the singers are much better. We still focussed on traditional playback singer whereas they brought mix of many singers across the nation.
No doubt, Rohail Hyatt's production was better ans string has done damage by bringing commercialism in the coke studio.
I had been waiting agerly for the announcement of season 9 and as soon as songs released, I just started watching and listening.
You can enjoy coke studio songs only by
1. First watching the video and see how each of them work in harmony, the chorus, their expression, the musician and the band.
2. When you searched meaning of those lines and understand the song from heart.
3. And when you listen those songs again and again.
I wanted to write review right from the episode 1, but due to many other commitment, I could not. In the episode 1, I liked aaja re more Saiyyan (and my 3+ years old daughter can sing it along, its favourite song for my entire family. I definitely have much affection for noorie and it was nice to see them back on action after a long time. I must say they are creating magic.
I will write my experience and review of those songs later.
Actually coke studio episode 2 and 3 completely disappointed me. Episode 4 was however something better. In episode 5, I came across the song Jhallia. This is the best song I felt in the episode 5 and I urge true music lover to watch this. Masooma Anwar came with a very different voice and face. There isn't much information available about her. If you do not watch the video, you may find difficult to mistaken it as a male voice.
