BJP Government - A choice without much options or we really do not have an alternate government

Hello,
One of my close friend asked some time back my view about Narendra Modi Government in centre. I did not reply her at that time but I felt to write about it through my blog.

I know, I am not a political analyst or thinker but being a citizen and human, I must express my view.
The great philosopher Plato says

"Those who do not participate in politics are ruled by fools"

I think in our case, The fools, clever, goon and cronies are ruling us. Actually we are now again in the British rule phase only difference is - we are fooled and ruled by different cronies interchangeably.
Let me also clarify, I am not supporter or protestor of any specific political ideology or outfits but yes, I feel BJP government is definitely better than the congress government.

So we know those painful 10 years under congress rule. Based economy, bad infrastructure, rampant corruption and a dictator kind of state and meanwhile for decades, Modi's ambition to become a national leader had been growing. We saw many advertisement, Gujarat Model, Hindutva and so on. Gujaratis are known for their hatred for Muslims (not all but there are so you see many gujaratis not employing Muslims ) and Modi played the card well to rule Gujarat for years. Its still matter to discuss who initiated riots in Gujarat (it will be solely unfair to blame BJP government for the same as it was not planned by BJP or VHP at that time ). So finally after multi million money through sponsorship from once congress loyalist and opportunist Reliance and Narendra Modi blessed Adani who grew from rags to riches, Narendra Modi won the great democracy circus our Indian general election.
So what favoured BJP's win

Well, like many Indian, I also believe that Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayiji led NDA government is much better than all post 1970 government. It was more filled with patriotism, nationalism, simplicity and humanity and other such example is only Shri Lal Bahadur Shastriji.

Actually congress lost due to its arrogance, its corruption and the pseudo secularism.
1. Congress did one after another mistake. After winning election twice, they felt that whatever they do, nobody can take them away from power. By buying MPs they will easily form government. India, where people are divided on national matter but united in personal interest and where mushrooming of political parties exist, it is not difficult to buy everything. MPs, MLAs buy voters through bribery, freebies, reservation and so on and a national or state level political parties. This gave opportunity to A Raja, Dayanidhi Maran, Sharad Pawar, Vilasrao Deshmukh and so on. So as a result, we got gift as 2G scam, coal scam, Adarsh scam and one after another scam. So these were the price of the bribe we took.

2. Congress was over confident: Congress bribed people with various bribe from pleasing to muslims, pleasing to jains by awarding minority status, and many such other plannings. However, all the aims were fixed on attracting people. This did not work exactly. In Shamli, UP, a pro muslim part run state, muslims were in bad conditions, were forced to leave home, sell home at peanuts then rape of the girls (and as a nation we should feel ashamed of that) and apathy of the muslims finally lead to loss of trust of muslims in both SP and congress. Congress was confident that through the various brib, they can win people but it did not help. They highly advertised RTI and MANREGA ie. Mahatma Gandhi NATIONAL Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. But these both were effectless. Even the bribing voters through direct cash transfer through Aadhar card did not work well. (A country where people take loan through micro credit to increase livelihood and for employment and actually they use the money to make a better life and default the loan) how the direct cash transfer would have worked.

3. Projection of Manmohan Singh as a weak prime minister: No doubt, he was one the weakest and useless prime minister. An honest individually but did nothing to stop the corruption happening before him. He was one the worst prime minister of India when he gives statement that India prospered under British Rule and it was better. Whereas Narendra Modi emerged as a powerful leader, who campaigned extensively and became one of the most reachable politician of India. He used twitter, he used facebook in fact he exploited every social media available. He became a magic pill for every Indian.

4, Feudal natural of Indian National Congress: Rahul Gandhi i another highly incompetent and a person for nothing. He is not at all interested in education or politics and he was more interested in holidaying abroad, roaming with the girl friend (may be secretly married wife/ live- in partner) and completely relied on the PR agency written speeches and their"strategy". Initially, people had hope from him but his incompetency soon came out. I am sure congress will be back in power in future and finally we will get another incompetent and a completely stupid person as a Prime Minister.

So what about Narendra Modi? He is a Prime Minister now. Will he solve all the problems he had promised during election? Is he an honest man? Can he run government transparently? Is he more concerned about nation?
I think this will be too early to comment and completely judge as he has recently, hardly 2 months back has started his rule. He has many things to do. he has to clean up the mess, he has to control the inflation, he has to make law and order condition better, he has to increase quality of education, he has to bridge the gap between poor and rich, he has to empower women and so on.

So here is What Narendra Modi can do (possibly) and what he cannot do.
I recommend reader of this blogpost to go through the BJP's Manifesto available through following link

It summarise as follows:

Vibrant and Participatory Democracy
Empowered and Inspired People
Inclusive and Sustainable Development
Quality life in Villages and Cities
Basic Amenities to All
Flourishing Agriculture
Productive Youth
Involved Women
Robust physical and social Infrastructure
Innovative and Technologically driven Society
Globally competitive Economy
Brand India built on Quality
Strong, Effective and Futuristic Institutions
Open, Transparent and Systems-based Government
Pro-active, Pro-people Good Governance
To build a Modern India: the best foundation is our own Culture;
the best tool our own hands; and the best material our own aspirations

So, what BJP really cannot do
The very first page of the manifesto describes the rule of UPA I and UPA II is a decade of decay. I do not disagree. The decade of UPA government is one of the most frustrating and full of negativity. The first thing it promises is to attend the imminent. i.e. the price rise.
The result is already before us and I do not think that The Narendra Modi Government can really do something on this. This is due to certain reasons. They are:

1.Cannot lower the inflation:  Price of essential commodities and goods are depend on certain aspects such as the products we need to export are totally depend on the price of external markets and consumption at home. Take example of crude oil ie. diesel, petrol, kerosene etc. We do not produce it locally. Now due to civil war in Iraq the price has gone up for crude oil. Government cannot decrease it as we do not produce it enough locally. If government want to reduce the price, they have to give subsidies. Giving subsidies means taking additional load on GDP. Now let us take example of food grains and other essential commodity's price. They are depend on demand and supply, cost of the transportation, toll charges, corruption in municipal corporations and of course the middleman. Many of these middlemen are BJP voters too, infusing funds in elections and providing support. I doubt BJP can take risk of eliminating them. You are already aware about other factors and Modi government has already hiked fare for goods train. The hike was imminent but when Modi was not in power, he had protested for the same.
This is an acid test for the government.

2. Cannot decrease or end corruption: Corruption and power are inseparable and this apply to BJP too. I have seen Modi flying in Adani chartered planes and we know how Modi had gifted them many resources as freebies so I do not wonder. Modi cannot really end or minimise corruption. He may minimise at lower level but at higher level he has to work for Reliance, Adanis and whoever help him to remain in power. At state level too, I so not think he can really do anything where BJP or NDA is not in power. Fos instances, in India, you will not find a single police station working without bribes. 99 out of 100 passport applicants pay bribe, 90 out of 100 complainant pay bribe to file/ register an FIR and everybody earns from that. The same applies to municipal corporations to various other government department. So, please do not expect a magic. Your policewala, your TC your every government official is going to harass you for one or another reason. Now let us take example of Gadkari, Purti and electronic autorickshaw sanction at Delhi which is already under the cloud. No doubt, Gadkari has provided benefit to his company. By the time it will be proved, Gadkari would have been died.

3. Transparency in governance: Considering the current Tulsi @ Smriti Irani issue and The Gadkari E-autorickshaw scam, I doubt we can see this.

4. Judicial, administrative, police and electoral reform: This may be partially achieved but it will be never fully done. Look at the current issue of appointment of Subramaniam as Supreme Court judge. Modi Government is now appointing and removing people at will. Criminals like Amit Shah has Z plus security and all the charges against him being made weak. Perhaps we can never break the criminal and politician nexus. The moment they bring reform, they have to give more power in people's hand. None of the political parties want to do this.

5, social justice: Social justice is a distant dream of India. Fw handful SC/ ST and OBCs are parasite and they are getting plum position, education for nothing. They are the parasites. Every government want to please them as now they are almost 50% of the vote bank. Nobody wants to end reservation and provide them enough training to empower. So I do not think this change will every happen.

6. Increasing quality of education: no, he cannot do this. He could not improve any state university to top 10 level during more than a decade of his power, The degree scamster Rai University is in his state and the biggest fake degree producer private universities are in Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh so I cannot expect that Modi government has capability to really improve quality education.

7. Sustainable development: Modi government's first priority will be to give benefits to industrialists who have donated and supported it during election. The way it is blocking Greenpeace, the way it is taking action on people protesting against nuclear plant do not give sign that it will fulfil the sustainable development model.

Then? Can Modi government really do anything for us?
I do not think I have said anything negative. I just told the fact. this blog post is not anti Modi or pro congress. I must say that the Modi government is much better than the congress government. I t can do many things.

1. Modi government will empower India: With the initial tie up and discussion with SAARC members, India is reminding all its member friends that still India is the strongest nation in south Asia reason and it believes in cooperation and development. This is necessary due to political scenarios in Bhutan who had been inclining towards China. It was necessary for neo member Afghanistan who is indebted to India many ways and for maldives and Sri Lanka who are very important from India's marine defence view.

2, It can regain the lost glory of India: The way Dr.  Harshvardhan, Sushma Swaraj and Uma Bharati took oath in Sanskrit, the way Ganga project is being handled, I am sure they will bring glory to India. English is something but not everything. The mentality of English slave has to come out and we should rely on our own strength.

3. Increasing state/ central relationship: They way he met all the regional leaders of different state, the way BJP members took oath in various languages over English has given enough indication. We are a national with diversity with unity and I believe he will be able to do this.

4. Empowering nation: I think Modi government can do this partially though various initiative but I hope this will be not dummy as Gujrat's model.

5. Improving condition of farmers: BJP government may not be able to take strong action against the money lenders exploiting the farmers however, they can certainly focus on agricultural production increase, helping farmers through improvised technique and providing various support. However, we have to wait and watch for this.

There are many but I want to stop this here. I may add other points later on
Thanks for reading. All comments are welcome.

  1. Dear Govind sir,i follow your message constantly. I just read your opinion on political issue of the country and i think you are right. corruption has became big issue today and it cannot be halted unless all people of India came together It alone participation of an individual cannot help to erase corruption from our country it's requires everyone participation. Modi govt. alone cannot do anything.
