This is my 18th post in the series of distance learning education in India. through each such post, I have been explaining everyone of you the approved universities in India. Through this blogposts, I have been providing information about territorial jurisdiction of every university, all the courses they are offering till the time of posting the blog and whether the university is involved in any controversies, degree scams etc. So far, I have covered almost all major states in northern, south and central India.
It was a kind of learning phase for me also.
Preparing all these post was not an easy task. I did lot of search, research, finding so to minimise the error. By this post now, we are moving towards north eastern state of India where recently, many degree scams have come to the light. West Bengal is not part of such degree scam university except the totally fake IBAM (Indian Board of Alternative medicine) which offers make medicine degree and Ph.D but this is a fake institute. West Bengal is home of some best universities in India like Jadavpur University, University of Calcutta (the first university established by British in 1857 alongwith Madras and Mumbai). It is also house of India's first IIM- Kolkata and Vishwa Bharti Shanti Niketan. Perhaps, this is the only state which offers MA in Nepali language in distance mode (North Bengal). Now let us see institutes in the state.
The best thing thing is that, I found only 1 deemed and 1 private university in WB and did not find any scam, offering degrees through violation of the UGC directive in the state. I wish, all neighbouring state could learn something from WB.

This is a state government university established in 1981 and one of the well known university in West bengal. It offers limited courses in UG and PG in distance mode but they seems to be career oriented. Attendance of around 15 days in PCP is compulsory otherwise students are not allowed to appear in the exam. This feature is good.
