So Finally much awaited movie Kick is here.
I am not a Salman Khan fan (in fact I have been fan of any good movie and actor) but it just attracted my attention.
Salman Khan has a very good strategy for his movies. If you see, he ensure to release his movies during Eid. Eid being only largely celebrated Muslim festival in India, a big thing for around 14% population of India. Further, unlike other populations, Muslim prefers only somebody from "their community" and no doubt, irrespective of what they do, Salman is idol for majority of Muslim youth and you will find many of them considering equivalent of a local Salman Khan (so going gym, "impressing girls" by fast law breaking bikes and so on...
I want to state clearly that this post is neither a review of movie Kick nor anti Salman or Muslim (and I appreciate his strategy highly). If you have a good strategy to market, you can sell even an average product. I am presenting here few of the reviews.
I have not watched the movie (and I want to wait till it comes to TV channels in few months). My budget for movies are very limited. Let's go
Performance of the movie:
The movie already has done collection of Rs. 50 crore in 2 days.
In the opening day i.e. Friday, it has already earned 27 crore (the first day collection)
It has beaten records of Ek Tha Tiger and headed to be a big hit. Considering the Eid, there is no doubt it will be a big hit.
Here is a snapshot of a critic to whom I admirer
Hindustan Times say, It is a silly film. Here is the excerpts
The first thing you should know about Kick is that it is an outrageously silly film. It lurches from a thwarted love story to infantile comedy to slick action to shamelessly manipulative melodrama without any attempt at coherence or consistency.
Kick is the official remake of a 2009 Telugu blockbuster also called Kick, but debutant director Sajid Nadiadwala bungs in Hollywood-inspired action, snatches of Dhoom 3 and even a smattering of Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Salman Khan plays Devi Lal Singh, an adrenalin junkie who has quit 32 jobs in search of a kick (incidentally, every character in this film says Kick at least a dozen times, just in case you forgot which film you were watching). He falls in love with a psychiatrist named Shaina, played by Jacqueline Fernandez. With great affection, he calls her Dr Psycho. Meanwhile she gets to say lines like: “Social psychology ke hisab se aadmi ki pehchaan uske kaam se hoti hai.”

Rediff.com seems to be a big Salman Khan fan stating it is as Salman's best ever film.
It looks good, moves fast, shows off its superstar. In the world of harebrained Bhai films --Dabanng included -- Kick is the best made and the most fun. If you're a fan, you just hit the jackpot.
Rediff Rating: 3 star
NDTV has given it rating o 2.5 star (and for me this review is more reliable)
Kick revels in excess, which, for a film of its kind, is not necessarily a drawback. It dishes out everything in abundance.
Eye-catching foreign locations, elaborately mounted action sequences, flashy pyrotechnics and stunts straight out of Hollywood superhero movies, song and dance routines bunged in randomly for occasional relief and loads of Dabangg-style dialoguebaazi are all par for the course here.

Filmfare seems to be another Salman fan. Ir has also awarded it 3star rating.
Most of the fun comes thanks to Salman's able deputies. The finest is Nawazuddin Siddiqui who makes a late entry in the second half. But it takes him 5 minutes to show what great acting is all about. His character doesn't muck around pouting irrelevant dialogue. In fact his no nonsense menace is the best thing about the film. Then there's the anti hero, the eternal thorn in Salman's hero's side played by Randeep Hooda. His intensity is bang on. Comedy is ably handled by Mithun Chakraborty and Archana Puran Singh. The dancing and good looks department is in the able hands of Jacqueline Fernandez.
on fimfare, there are many good reviews but I could found a dissatisfied too:
Bollywood has lost it all......good bye sensible movies...
ikshit
another reader at above fimfare review writes

What’s hot
One word – Salman! This guy has never looked so good in any of his films, and we are talking about his IMDB biography from Wanted to Dabangg. The Salman of Kick seems like a different person. He’s more confident, relaxed, at ease even when he’s doing Ahmed Khan’s difficult dance steps in Jumme Ki Raat, or giving those tight closeups which looked slightly embarrassing in his previous films. A lot of credit goes to his stylists Ashley Rebello and Alvira Agnihotri for presenting and dressing him up in a classy yet massy style. His fans will eat up his every dialogue, move and mannerism in the first half. Jacqueline not only looks like a million bucks but she’s sprung a huge surprise in Jumme Ki Raat where she does a Beyonce meets Shakira one minute solo act which will have your jaw drop in awe! Words can’t explain the sheer awesomeness of that moment. She also has great chemistry with Salman and that only adds up in making the songs look so much better. Randeep Hooda has some brilliant moments courtesy dialogues by Rajat Arora. But Nawazuddin steals the thunder every time he comes on screen. The actor has got an amazing role in Kick, and he leaves no stone unturned in ensuring he plays up to the gallery with those smart alec one liners. Production values are top class and the film looks rich and stylish. Nargis Fakhri’sDevil song comes at the right point giving the film a shot in its arm. She looks stunning and the song looks hauntingly beautiful on the big screen

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: "KICK has the magnificence [in terms of production values] that was lacking in Salman's previous movies. This is a big ticket movie and Sajid, who has produced larger-than-life extravaganzas in the past, makes sure every frame appears luminous, tasteful and eye-catching.
"On the whole, KICK is a paisa vasool, seeti-maar entertainer. Get ready for a Tsunami called KICK at the ticket window. It is sure to rewrite box-office records. Salman fans, rejoice. KICK is a sure-shot B-L-O-C-K-B-U-S-T-E-R. To quote a dialogue from the film: 'Woh apni Eidi lene zaroor aayega'."
and people have blasted Taran Adarsh on twitter for 4.5 star rating for kick. I have seen people often attacking him as a paid reviewer. I do not know how much true it is.
YUVRAJ SINGH @YUVOO7: Q- What if taran adarsh make star wars? Ans-it will be called 5Star war.
Keh Ke Peheno @coolfunnytshirt: *Taran Adarsh at a 5 star hotel*
Manager: Sir, how would you rate our hotel?
TA: 5 Star..

Champ-u-terology @BolshoyBooze: BREAKING: Taran Adarsh gives 4 stars to Salman's #Kick and gives 5 stars to KRKs 'Review of #Kick' that is released on youtube.
Keh Ke Peheno @coolfunnytshirt: Taran Adarsh just clarified that he doesn't own Star TV.

So I think this is enough for all readers. No doubt, it will be also a big hit.
Yes it's a silly movie, But a value for money with regards to entertainment....
ReplyDeleteThere is one fact which is completely ignored by critics is the movie gives a wrong message to the society,
It justifies Devil's wrong acts for the right cause
The hero who needs to be arrested or killed at
the end surprisingly emerged as a Cop, That was really hard to digest.
Overall experience awesome, far more better than Akshay Kumar movies
