The first blog is more about Human Resources, Business and career but the most of the content in that blog is about universities and distance education. The reason is, most of the working people prefer distance education due to lack of the time and for upgradation of their skill. However, the degree seller universities like Aditya, EIILM, CMH, MGU Shillong, Vinayak Mission, Swami Vivekanand Sagar, Nomad, Shridhar, Techno Global etc. have opened the shop. The junk degree, not useful at all and lacking in quality also. 

In other side, universities like SMU, ICFAI opened their shop to offer degree to anybody by violating norms and without verification. As an HR and being in recruitment function, one must be aware about it hence I poured all the little knowledge I have here. 

My second blog http://simplygovind.blogspot.com is more about socio. economic, political and related to my personal stuff and experiences. However, I published the list of recognized institute- statewise on this platform as it was meant for all (not specifically for working people).

This is my 20h post in the series of distance learning education in India. I am very near to complete state wise list of the approved universities offering distance learning courses. In this post, I am writing about Meghalaya state. 

Meghalaya, once a state free from such education scam has hit by the scam from CMJ university and Mahatma Gandhi University Shillong. Just imagine, the north east region never had a good central or state university then how a private university become capable to award so many degrees, right from the Diploma to Ph.D

Now let us see more about the approved universities in Meghalaya.

1.  North Eastern Hill University, Shillong

Type: Central University

Admission open: May to July every year 

Medium of instruction: English

NAAC category: A grade with status of university for potential for excellence

Admission open for non HSC passed: No

Reputation: One of the central university, well known in the north eastern state

Territory and jurisdiction according to UGC : All over India

Territorial Jurisdiction as per the  University Act: Not specified

Information about the university: 

North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973.The jurisdiction of the University extended originally to the states of Meghalaya and Nagaland and the erstwhile Union Territories of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. With the establishment of the Nagaland University on 6th September 1994, the jurisdiction of NEHU ceased over Nagaland. Likewise with the establishment of the Mizoram University the jurisdiction of NEHU over Mizoram also ceased from June, 2001. Arunachal Pradesh has its own university. However the North-Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology located in Arunachal Pradesh is affiliated to NEHU.

The University offers only need based course and nowhere it seems that it is involved in commercialization of higher education by selling it all over India like MGU Shillong. One of the best institute.

Special Education Eligibility: have a Bachelor Degree from any UGC recognized University and fulfill any one of the following conditions: be a parent of differently abled child be a differently abled  person possess RCI recognized Diploma in Special Education (DSE) have under gone bridge course of RCI have completed the RCI recognized Foundation     Course (FC-SEDE) Preference will be given to the candidate having a minimum of one year experience in managing and educating person ‘differently abled’ in a special school environment, after his/her graduation. Seats remaining vacant, after admission of the above mention categories, may be filled with candidates having Bachelor Degree as per (a) Programme Fee : Rs. 20000/- Duration : 2 years

2. Post Graduate Professional  Diploma in Special Education Eligibility : The applicant should have a B.Ed. Degree in General or Special Education from any recognized University Programme Fee : Rs. 8000/- Duration : 9 Months 3. Foundation Course of Education on Children with Disabilities Eligibility : Class XII Passed Programme Fee : Rs. 2000/- Duration : 3 Months 4. General Course in Floriculture Eligibility : Class X and above Programme Fee : Rs. 1500/- Duration : 6 Weeks 5. Certificate Course in Floriculture Eligibility : Graduate in any discipline from any recognize University/Institute. Programme Fee : Rs. 2500/- Duration : 6 Months 6. Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship Eligibility : Graduate in any discipline from any recognize University/Institute. Programme Fee : Rs. 3000/- Duration : Two academic semesters (1 Year)

2.  Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Shillong

Type: Private University

Admission open: throughout the year. A degree for sale university 

Medium of instruction: English

NAAC category: not accredited

Admission open for non HSC passed: to anybody who shows money

Reputation: One of the worst and most controversial university. A university who sell degree for money

Territory and jurisdiction according to UGC : Only Khana Para city campus of this university in Meghalaya

Territorial Jurisdiction as per the  University Act: Only Khana Para city campus of this university in Meghalaya

Information about the university: 

This is a private and most controversial university in India. This University established as a private university in Meghalaya. As a private university, it is mandatory for this university to offer courses in full time, part time, distance, offline, industry integrated, correspondence and online mode in its main campus only. This University can enroll student from all over the world but it has to conduct all exams at its main campus only. It cannot appoint any agent, franchise, partner, information centre to offers its programme. However, this university has been selling degree for money by conducting exam all over India, in every corner and even outside the country.

There are no other approved universities in Meghalaya state to offer distance education courses so beware and take your decision carefully.
