Information about the university:
Started in the year 1985 to make higher education reachable to remote part of the country and those who could not complete it in conventional mode, it is the central university of India under highly incompetent ministry of HRD, government of India. This university has been established through an Act of Parliament and the most powerful university in India. Today, almost 35,00,000 students are on roll of it (and do not know how many pass from there (i self enrolled and left in almost 3 courses due to their poor service and lack of responses) and how many really get help from the university to get placement after completing the course (I sent job offer as an HR thrice but they never bothered to reply; such an attitude they have). If managed well, it can be no. 1 university in quality and delivery.
Exam Centre: In every part of the country and in more than 23 countries in the world (please note, admission process, criteria and fee for India and other countries are different)
Courses Available:
Courses Available:
It offers hundreds of courses everybody need. Whether you need Ph.d or Masters or any courses, whether for job or for your own development, it has everything. In fact, if IGNOU is managed properly, India do not need any other open and distance learning institutes. The course content are very high in quality, exam are rigorous. It is easier to pass 3 years degree course from Mumbai University but it is not easy from IGNOU. I strongly recommend that people should first look at IGNOU before opting any universities but you really need to be committed to complete the assignment, devote 2 hours for study every day.
How difficult to pursue courses from IGNOU?
It is much difficult than a conventional university but it provides lot of knowledge.
What is the acceptability of IGNOU degrees and certificates?
IGNOU qualifications are accepted for any higher education in India as well as in public sector job where a full time degree is not mandatorily required.
Is it valid for government job including civil services (IAS/ IPS) and teaching positions?
Yes, it is valid.
Is it expensive?
No, it is much less expensive and very convenient. They provide best course materials (which is at least 4 times lengthier than a conventional university. Also you need to complete assignments for practical courses, it is mandatory to attend practicals.
What are the media of study?
You can pursue it in Hindi as well as English medium. However few courses are available in English medium only.
What is the acceptability of IGNOU qualifications in private sector?
There are few companies who may not accept a distance learner specially BCA and MCA students face this peculiar problem however now awareness has increased and even Human Resources professionals have started giving recognition to IGNOU qualifications. In my previous organisation, I hired at least such 3 IGNOU graduates as I am aware about the quality and stringent of the courses. I rank it ahead of many University of Mumbai affiliated colleges.
What is the last date of admission?
16th December without late fee, 31st December with late fee of Rs. 500
You may go through the courses and may apply online too. Shall you have any question, please feel free to ask.
very helpful to real learners :) tnx for sharing.
