Universities offering distance learning courses in India- Gujarat

Hi Friends,

While writing this series, I got your tremendous support and I found that people in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are more interested in distance learning programme compared to Kerala and Karnataka. I am getting maximum page hit for above mentioned 3 states.
Further, a major changes happened in the distance education. The useless, corrupt and badly managed Distance Education Council abolished and a more corrupt, ineffective, untrained and most useless body called University Grants Commission took over it.

From this post onwards, I am not going to include DEC approval as it is already dissolved.

Information about the university: 
In recent year, this university has improved a lot. The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) was established by the Act No.14 of 1994 passed by the Gujarat State Legislature, and assented to by the Governor of Gujarat on 27th July, 1994. The BAOU is the seventh Open University in the country in terms of their establishment. The University offers 72 programmes with an enrollment of more than 1,00,000 learners. The headquarters of the university is located at Ahmedabad. Few courses are different from others like certificate in physiotherapy for blind and certificate course for anganwadi workers. Such courses will be beneficial for larger section of the society.

(University Grants Commission) for higher education programs. It was started as Rashtriya Vidyapith (National Institute of University Education) and was the wake of the Non-cooperative Movement. Mahatma Gandhi remained its life-long Kulpati (Chancellor)

Information about the EDI: The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), an autonomous body and not-for-profit institution, set up in 1983, is sponsored by apex financial institutions, namely the IDBI Bank Ltd, IFCI Ltd. ICICI Ltd and State Bank of India (SBI). The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Public Trust Act 1950. The Government of Gujarat pledged twenty-three acres of land on which stands the majestic and sprawling EDI campus.
If you are looking for a institute to get a job, this course and institute is not for you. This is for the people who wants to start own business but has no idea from where to start.

Thats all from Gujarat. Please note that IIM Ahmadabad does not offer MBA/ PGPM in distance mode. It offers one year web based PG Programme which is not equivalent to MBA or IIM's own PGPM. Industry also do not give so much value of this PG Programme (1 year through NIIT imperia or such agencies). Gujarat is weak in penetration of distance learning programme. Except Ambedkar Open University no other institute offer distance learning programme and lacking in skill as well as vocation oriented programme.
