Universities offering distance learning courses in India- Madhya Pradesh (MP)

Hi Friends,

This is the 6th posting in the same series and this time, I have decided to write about institutes in Madhya Pradesh. The reason, is, for quite some time, I am finding that again, new private universities in MP rampantly violating the norms and selling degree for the price. Therefore people in and out from MP must know which MP universities are allowed to offer distance learning. This will definitely save money and time of the people. We have seen how EIILM, CMJ, PTU and SMU are facing strong action even the CBI inquiries. 

1. MP Bhoj Open University

Type: State Government Open University

Admission open: January to July

Medium of instruction: English  & Hindi

NAAC category: not applicable as NAAC does not accredits Open Universities

Admission open for non HSC passed: Yes, through BPP for BA, B.Com degree course

Reputation: Not so well reputed but many courses on offer

Information about the university: 

Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University (MPBOU) was established under an Act of State Assembly in 1991.

The MPBOU has an enrolment of 1.5 lac students and is the second largest Open University in the country

It offers various courses including B.Ed. (Special Education) and many other vocational courses under distance mode. It offers around 83 courses and if we look into the content of the courses, it is highly useful for a state like MP where poverty is higher, lesser developed and these courses can help in increasing productivity and employment.

Any controversy:Nothing such found. Earlier, it had open centres all over India and in Mumbai, one private institute named Swami Vivekanand college was offering this university's programme too. Swami Vivekanand college principal has been arrested now for degree scam with Vinayaka Mission University Tamil Nadu. It seems now this university is focusing more on its founding objective i.e. making higher education reachable in remote part of MP. At least it is much better than KSOU who is involve in selling degrees.

Reputation: Perhaps the most reputed state university in Madhya Pradesh, has good name outside state too

Information about the university: 

Devi Ahilya University also called Indore University, is a university operated by the state of Madhya Pradesh at Indore, India, named after Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Marathas. Currently around 9000 students study from this university in regular mode and around 250 in distance mode. This university does not seem to be hungry for money by selling degrees and focusing on providing education only. Thats why for several years (1996 onwards) it is only offering MBA programme. Perhaps this is the best institute to pursue MBA in MP and Indore in distance as well as full time mode (except IIM Indore)

It offers various courses under distance learning and the fee are competitive. It is good for the people in remote part of its district

As of now, only above institutes/ universities are authorised to offer distance education in Madhya Pradesh. IIM Indore offers executive programme but they are not distance learning programmes

Swami Vivekananda University, MP is a big degree scam. It is violating all norms and offering degrees for sale. Please note that its distance education programme is neither valid for job nor for higher education. 

Further, Being a private university, it is not authorised to offer any courses outside its campus. It can meet the same fate of the CMJ, EIILM

Same thing is about Maharshi Vedic Yogic Vishwavidyalaya. It is approved to offer distance education however its degrees are on sale everywhere and can face de-recognition any time and its degree scam need to unearth. Its any degree obtained outside of MP stands invalid.
